I've recently noticed a handful of words in Cadence's vocabulary that have made me wonder what the heck is going on in her mind. I think her world must be a little confusing:
Sacrament Eating
Obama Tallman (Abominable Snowman)
Elegator (Elevator)
Nicholas (a friend but also a piece of jewelry worn around one's neck)
Baby Campbell (she uses this to say sibling, I think, as in: "Mom, I want another baby Campbell", or when Spencer asked her if she would like a baby brother, she said, "Yes, I want a baby brother Campbell, too!")
Acxshly (We have a friend here named Ashley, and when I told Cadence that that was her name, she lit up as if something had just clicked for her. I realized later that she calls her "Actually". I think the moment of clickage was something like this, "So THAT'S who we've been talking about..." Incidentally, Acxshly's husband's name is Guy, which also answered a question about vocabulary for Cadence. She gets pretty excited to talk to these two.)
Polka-nut (Coconut)
See the pattern here?
Another noteworthy thing, her grammatical errors...or are they?
"mines" (like "yours")
"do's" (as in, "does")
It's getting really late and hard for me to think, so this list will be cut short, but it's a little gratifying to see that her mistakes are largely completely justifiable.
Good night, it's time for me to go to my big girl bed.

I want to live by you!!!!!!!!!!
This is soooo funny! I remember as a little girl I always thought fast sunday meant it went by really fast. It confused me so much when our teacher brought doughnuts one fast sunday and said "I shouldn't be giving these to you guys on fast sunday but i will" I was like why not on fast sunday? I guess our FHE lessons in my home didn't cover that. haha I also think it is funny that cadence does this because I still do it up until last month I thought that the word tenure (as in when a professor makes tenure) was actually ten year. My husband graciously corrected me!! so it's not just little kids who make these sort of grammatical mistakes in their vocab.
Oh Cadence...she is really entertaining. You can just see her little brain going and going.
Oh and since Barbie confessed her word errors I'll confess mine...mine are usually in songs...I don't really listen to words but I like to sing along so I make up my own. Up until a few years ago I thought that one song went "I'm your fetus, I'm your fire, it's your desire." :) I think the Venus razor add helped me sort it out.
She is a crack up- Keep the funny lines coming!
What a cutie-pa-tootie! I miss listening to that low, husky voice of hers. :)
oops, that was me, not Rex...
i love this post. you are so good at putting Cadence's personality into words. I feel like i already know her. I can't wait to actually meet her!
Very funny. I think all little kids do that. I thought Burger King was Burger Kang forever, because my parents had a Western PA accent when I was little. I also thought Chest of Drawers was Chester Draws for the same reason.
